The moon does not produce its own brilliance. Its surface reflects the radiance of the sun. Similarly, no human being creates ex nihilo (from nothing). Our stories are created from pieces of reality, which we craft together to best reflect the truth, goodness, and beauty personified by Jesus Christ.
The moon is not the sun. Nor is art the Bible. Art needs no apology for what it is, no requisite altar call to lend it worth. God made the sun and the moon with different duties. While the sun maintains the day, the moon shines hope in the night.
Sometimes the moon sheds no light at all. It turns its face away, and the night cries in its darkness. But even in the darkness, the moon is still there, and its light will return again.
